The good thing about Rick Steves' books is that they are, in our experience 100% accurate and don't lead you to do the same thing that every other tourist is doing. His recommendations for hotels are first rate. You won't be at the Hilton, but you'll have a memorable and enjoyable experience. His recommendation of Gasthof Zum Schluxen in Unterpingswang, Austria is one of our best travel experiences. When visiting Neuschwannstein in Germany, I don't know why you would stay anywhere else!
