This is the second book in the Urban Werewolf series by Ms. MacInerney. I got this book from Paperback Swap and just couldn't wait to read it! I think this one is right up there with the first one with it's humor, it's action and romance! Which if you've read the first one, then you know what I'm talking about!

Sophie has pretty much got it made, except for the fact that every time she turns around there's a hot guy there. Her super sexy human boyfriend, Heath seems to have taken a shine to working later and she catches him out to lunch with his super sexy associate. But then her boss told her to make sure to do anything to keep the new client happy, but it seems harder than that when he's constantly making advances on her. Then Tom, the sexy werewolf, keeps popping in and out of her life. So now that makes for three super sexy dudes who all seem to have the hots for her. What is a girl to do?

To make things a little more interesting, Sophie gets contacted by the Houston pack and they want to meet her. And when that seems to go awry, she needs to the help of some very good friends to try and help her stay alive. The plot thickens as the story moves forward and we see a few characters from the first book.

Very compelling story written in the modern world and really mixes the fine line between what's real and supernatural. I loved every second of the book and can't wait to read the third book - Leader of the Pack!

This series just gets better a real rip-roar tale to follow, it is rather annoying the clothing part, but I wasn't too distracted, many authors do this so I get used to not getting hung up about that part. I really can't wait for Leader of the Pack now. ( )

I enjoyed this one but not quite as much as the first. I understand the Sophie hasn't had much training or even knowledge of other werewolves, and can understand her mistakes of not thinking about what she is wearing when going on a stake out. However the parts I did not enjoy were the clothing descriptions and how all the name brands were mentioned. It almost made me as a reader feel out of my league. The basics of the story were there and the story line was great, but I hope in the next installment she lays off the name brand clothes, most of us understand that she is an accountant in a big firm. Otherwise the story line was good and I am truly looking forward to the next one. ( )

I like Sophie Garou. She's the heroine of Karen MacInerney's latest "On the Prowl". This is book two in the 'Tales of an Urban Werewolf' and I laughed through a large majority of the book!

Sophie is a werewolf...umm, hmmm. What does it say about her life that she keeps wolfsbane tea and disposable razors in her purse? She really, really, really just wants to be normal. As far as she's concerned, the tendency to go furry is just a pain in the butt! She's a successful (yea! finally made partner) accountant, just won the biggest account her firm's seen in years, and saw her political contender lawyer boyfriend coming out of a jewelry store and it's almost Valentine's Day! Things are finally going well. Ok, except for the whole someone's apparently trying to kill her. Uh...and her 'boyfriend' is spending a bit, OK WAY too much time with his Barbie lookalike assistant. Umm, and her best friend's newest boyfriend is a smoking hot werewolf with a scent that almost hypnotizes Sophie and makes all her hormones scream. Ahh...and the President of the new account she won is majorly hot and coming on to her like gangbusters. Er...the Houston 'pack' has discovered her existence and she's living in 'their' territory. Oh! Can't forget that some wacko cult werewolves from Mexico are invading Austin and think she'd be a great sacrifice in their big ceremony. But other than that, everything is just fine!

Sophie is a bit shallow. But she's still likeable. She spends most of her time trying to be normal and distancing herself from anything 'weird', even though her mother is a practicing Wiccan with a New Age shop who Sophie had to save from a murder rap in the last book. Little by little Sophie is being drawn further and further into the paranormal world. Her dreams of a DINK marriage followed by 2.2 children and the life of a politician's wife are slowly but surely going down the drain. Of course, Sophie is still fighting for all she's worth. But we the readers know it's a battle she's already lost...and she'll eventually be OK with that...I'm pretty sure.

If the thought of Elaine on Seinfeld with werewolf 'issues' sounds funny to you and you like paranormals...pick up the first book in this series and let me know what you think... ( )
