Gray and Drew's book should be useful for both graduate students and faculty members beginning their academic careers. The brevity of this book, its occasional irreverence (including the cartoons), and its attention to the importance of scholarly publishing for faculty members at research universities make What They Didn't Teach You in Graduate School different from other academic career guides on the market. Short enough to be read in an afternoon, it is filled with enough advice to help keep one engaged and productive for an entire academic career.
