The Areas of My Expertise, The Book of Lists, Descriptionary, ... This one is more popular, but Schott's Miscellany is fun to dip in to. Also I agree with Teacherdad about the Rolling Stone encyclopedia. Check out the reference section at your public library some time, you'll probably find all kinds of odd reference books. One of my favorite bathroom books is Schott's Miscellany. It's got lots of interesting trivia that you can read in small bits as time permits ;-) and that are entertaining too. I also liked the new Wordsmith book The Dord, the Diglot, and an Avocado or Two, about the origin of funny words. (stup ... ... most of you! I have only 5 books in my TBR pile: Barchester Towers, A Traveller's Christmas, Pride and Prejudice,Schott's Original Miscellanies and House Mother Normal. I don't like the idea of having many unread books on my shelves, although I understand that most of you couldn't ... ... had copies of the Readers Digest and Guidepost magazine.
I have a crossword puzzle book in there. And a copy of Schott's Original Miscellany.
I don't like to waste time ... to find some reviews before spending any money.
Wasn't the Lynne Truss phenomena identical to what happened with Schott's Miscellany though? Can't remember which one came first now, but got the impression that they were marketed as Christmas presents and sold well because of when they ...
