I thought this was a really good book for children learning to read or children who are learning to read in the English language. This is a pop-up book that starts of with the sentence, "Explorer Sam can see..." and then goes through pop-ups of different animals. The language and writing of this book is great for young readers as it provides repetition. The text "Explorer Sam can see..." is at the top of every pop-up so when a new animal appears, the reader can say "Explorer Sam can see a tiger." or "Explorer Sam can see a snake." The illustrations enhance the story by providing pop-up pictures that engage and excite young readers while reading because it's not like regular picture books where the pictures are simply on the page. I love the plot of this books because each pop-up shows an illustration of the animals as if Sam was actually seeing them in the jungle. It's not till the end when Sam is shown playing in his/her yard with a stuffed animal monkey, cat (tiger), hose (snake), cup (with a crocodile design on it), etc. It's a book that kids will love because of its imaginative nature.
