I enjoyed Joe Bennett's writing style, especially the humor of his invented verbs and observation of contrasts in his China travels. ( )

An interesting read but not particularly gripping. This is just one view of what life is like in China - probably a view that Chinese people wouldn't agree with. When I was reading the book, one of my Chinese colleagues felt offended about the cover. Joe Bennett tells his story in a personable style. Overall I'm glad I've read the book. ( )

All cliches that you can scrape everywhere from pages on the Internet put together in a book; you might call that an achievement. Entertaining, but not particularly accurate. Nothing new, and the author is lighthearted about data he wishes to but cannot obtain. Quite a few inaccuracies around in numbers and figures thrown in by the author. ( )
