I just watched against Henri-Georges Clouzot's [Quai des Orfevres] from the original title of the Author of "The assassin lives at number 21" "Legitime defense" in the Criterion collection. An interview of this great cineast tells that he bought the movie rights and immediately started writing the script. By the time he received a hard copy of the book to read, and because it was out of print, he had written half the movie which received a prize at the festival of Venice, Italy. I have not read this book yet.
