17) 'Tis. I can't wrap my head around this one. I liked "Angela's Ashes" because I could root for the character but here I stopped rooting and didn't feel much for Frank as a grown man. On well, 367pp brings it up to 7277. Now something to hold me as I wait for another ER book. I am reading 'Tis, a Memoir by Frank McCourt.
I got this book from my little local library.
I picked this book as it is the sequel to Angelas's Ashes which I recently read and loved.
It had been on my shelf for only 3 days, which is the length of time it took me to read my previous ... ... Angela's Ashes so depressing that I did not think I would read another one by Frank McCourt. I read Angela's Ashes in high school and then when 'Tis came out I didn't want to read another book as depressing as Angela's Ashes. Then last year a new friend at work told me 'Tis was nothing like Angela's Ashes and was ... Author Frank McCourt died July 19 at the age of 78. He was the author of Angela's Ashes, 'Tis and Teacher Man: A Memoir.
I met Mr. McCourt and heard him read once. It would be impossible to imagine a more charming and entertaining man. ... Fridge by Tony Hawks was funny and described parts of Ireland and the people that he was meeting.
Angela'a Ashes and Tis both by Frank McCourt are memoirs about growing up in Ireland and are very good.
And, if you like chic lit, then Irish Girls About Town is a good collection of Iris ... I loved Angela's Ashes. Are you planning to read any of the follow-ups, 'Tis and Teacher Man? They are both very good as well, though neither quite measure up to Angela's Ashes. I really enjoyed Teacher Man, it rehashes some of the same things that came up in Angela's Ashes and 'Tis, but it's ... I haven't read 'Tis

Tis: a memoir by Frank McCourt (I haven't read this, but Angela's Ashes was a bit rough for me, though I thought it a good book.) ... waiting to be read... but I always look, and sometimes find a treasure (clean, not mangled, un-yellow) like the copy of 'Tis by Frank McCourt I picked up for $1 last week! Been too poor to buy any books for a while (fines at the Library don't count)... but found 'Tis for on the $1 cart and then got Shakespeare: The Biography, The Autograph Man, and Passarola Rising* -- less than $20 total! -- through the "Daedalus Books" catalog...
