Book description
At 16, high school student Kimitake Hiraoka was invited to serialize a story in the literary magazine "Bungei-Bunka"; the story he submitted and published was "The Forest in Full Bloom." The 120-page story, written in 11th century court Japanese, was serialized in four issues from September to December 1941 and, through much effort due to wartime rationing, was published in book form in October 1944 by Shichijo Shoin. The first edition of 4,000 copies was sold out in a week.
