In a time of globalization Jochen Eber shows convincingly how this aspect dominated Christian missions long ago already. Networking was a major tool for the success of this pioneer missionary from S.Germany. The connections J.L.Krapf had with Ludwig Harms in Hermannsburg and the deliberations, which led L.Harms to view the Oromo as the goal of their "village" mission are fascinating. That this is a detailed account of pioneer missions in Africa by a old Erlanger colleague and fellow-student under R.Slenczka makes it all the more precious and recommendable.
