Don't really know any Q books.
... do love the goblins in The Hollow Kingdom trilogy. There's also a lot of good urban fantasy out there: Wicked Lovely, Tithe , Wondrous Strange, City of Bones. . . .
Any of that sound interesting?
(Edit: Ack! None of my touchstones showed up! Trying again. . . .)
... supernatural romance that draws them (as opposd to the sparkly vampires), I'd suggest Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. (Or Tithe by Holly Black, but that's actually more mature and would probably be better for the 13+ kids.)
Both books are part of a trilogy. (Well, I think the WL series ...
... you could always suggest she branch out into other paranormal/urban fantasy romance series like Wicked Lovely or Tithe or the like. (My knowledge on them is, sadly, limited.)

... a lot of Vampire Academy and Vampire Diaries about, although I haven't read either. I also see a lot of recommendations for Tithe , Wicked Lovely, and City of Glass.

4. Troll: A Love Story by Johanna Sinisalo
5. Faerie Tale by Raymond E. Feist
6. Harry Potter's Bookshelf by John Granger
7. Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale
I finished The Woman in White, which was very good, and Tithe , which was also good, if a bit dark and icky in parts for my taste.
Mmm. If it's the fairy side you're interested in, you might like Holly Black's Tithe and sequels as well. (They're very similar to the Wicked Lovely books, but earlier and, obviously, different.)
*thinks* If you want more of Jane Yolen's work, her Rock 'n Roll Fairytales might be right ...
Vampires are really big right now, but they've never really appealed to me. I was always more into faeries and witches (Tithe and Sweep and the like; obviously I'm not calling depictions of realistic Wiccans a la Circle of Three "mythological")
So I'm just curious what everyone else is ...
How about...
tithe , valiant and ironside by Holly Black. They are YA Fae novels
Laurell K. Hamilton's Merry Gentry series has Fae in it, but I can't remember the first book, will come back and edit when I remember! :)
There is also a series starting with faefever by Karen Marie Mon ...
Fairies:
-I second Jenson's suggestion of the Tithe series.
-The Artemis Fowl books by Eoin Colfer have fairies of a rather different sort.
-I haven't read them in years, but OR. Melling wrote a series called The Chronicles of Faerie which, as you might imagine, involves plenty of ...
Tithe , Valiant and Ironside by Holly Black. All very good fairy stories. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr was quite good as well.
I'll have to think about the elves topic.
I just finished a short jaunt into Faerie with Tithe , and I'm heading out into the mean streets with Rachel Morgan in Dead Witch Walking.
faerys; Wicked Lovely, Wonderous Strange, Knife, Tithe are a few that I've read or have heard of.
Absolutely seconding the recs for Tithe (and its sequels) and Faerie Tale (which is much less well-known, but was actually one of the first in the genre I ever read).
Other good ones include:
Jack of Kinrowan by Charles de Lint (and many of his other works)
Wicked Lovely by Melissa M ...
Try mixing "faerie" into the tagmash. You get an interesting list. I haven't read a lot of them but I enjoyed Tithe and I like Mercedes Lackey,
it's not really vampire, but it's an urban fantasy book tithe by holly black it's faerie modern and I love it.
I agree that the House of Night and Vampire Academy have too many adult concepts for an 11 year old to understand or not be horrified by it.
She might also like Darren Shan's ...
If you're open to and liking City of Bones you could also try Wicked Lovely and/or Tithe .
47. Tithe by Holly Black
I liked this much more than I expected. I got really caught up in Kaye's story and I really liked Roiben.
Kaye, a teenage girl who still believes she had fairy friends as a young child, movies back to her grandmother's home. Walking down a road one night, she ...

... Little Blue Envelopes. It was light and quick, and I like Maureen Johnson.
Also, maybe Holly Black? I loved Tithe .
... My favorites by her are Hawksong, Demon in My View and Shattered Mirror.
Holly Black's Modern Fairie Tales Tithe , Valiant and Ironside are all excellent as well.
For something more contemporary than paranormal I really enjoyed Getting Lost With Boys by Hailey Abbott ...
... and it became a bit repetitive I thought. This morning I finished Ironside, a ya urban fantasy and the sequel to Tithe . I found myself enjoying it more than Tithe, but can't exactly pin down why. Perhaps the characters are more real and believable on the second meeting . . .

Ironside (by Holly Black) is a sequel to Tithe , but while it is similar in style, I did not enjoy it as much. The tension between Kaye and Roiben went a long way to maintaining my interest in Black’s first book, but their relationship was not really developed much further in this sequel. I ...
24. *Tithe by Holly Black (331) YA/Fantasy
Not thrilled with this one. It seemed very cliche to me - the beautiful fey, the good and evil courts, the power of names, and so on and so forth. The writing was fine, but there was very little original in the story.
25. *The Knife of Never ...

#159: I'm glad you didn't like it either! I didn't even know about Tithe , but it sounds like I would have had just as bad a time with it as I did about Valiant. Disappointing. Some of it had potential, too.>154: I read Tithe and didn't like it for the very reasons you stated about Valiant. I wondered if maybe it was just the one book that was full of swearing, drugs, and random sex, but... evidently not. It was awkwardly placed in the story, and I too felt almost like Black was trying too hard.
I thought Tithe was ok, a little overrated, even though I like urban fantasy. I thought it was cool that she included even a token lesbian; queer teenage girls are not very well represented in fantasy lit, or most lit in general. That was actually one of the things that made me think about ...

I have just wasted two hours of my life reading Tithe . It was without a doubt the worst YA fiction book I have ever read. I just wished I'd read your post earlier. I couldn't even follow the plot! And the worst thing.... I think there is a sequel.
I've finished Tithe: A Modern Faerie Tale and at this point, I'm landing on the side of liking it - the scales are tipping on that side. I've been updating CK and I'll end up writing a review later. Added my review of Tithe ...

BEST (NEW) DECEMBER READS:
Arvore (Xicanti)
Tithe (Holly Black)
I obviously liked all of the re-reads: that’s why I reread them :)
LEAST GOOD DECEMBER READ:
Magic's Child, Justine Larbalestier
I have fallen woefully behind with my comments - hopefully I'll catch up before my year is done.
Tithe by Holly Black. (Girl turns out to be a fairy. Being a fairy is dangerous, because most fairies are not compassionate.) I liked it. The fairy love interest was suitably attractive. I didn’t ...
The Last Unicorn , Tithe , and Daddy Long-Legs ....I love those books. I so need to read Rapunzel's Revenge
... and its sequels first, though, if your daughter likes romance.
If she lines urban fantasy, she might want to check out Tithe by Holly Black or Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr (both are urban fantasy YA faery romance with a dash of Real World thrown in).

I absolutely hated Tithe . It felt like it was trying too hard to be hip/relevant to teens and it came off all awkward.
I also couldn't finish reading The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing. SO. BORING.

The Twilight series (although they're really easy to read), Tithe and Wicked Lovely.

A few from the list:
Hawksong, Tithe , A Great and Terrible Beauty, City of Bones, Blue Bloods, Wildwood Dancing, Keturah and Death Lord, Tantalize, Elsewhere
I've had great success giving Twilight fans Holly Black's Tithe , Valiant, and Ironside - they have faeries, romance, danger, enigmatic male leads, and chivalrous deeds. Better writing too. :) It's already been mentioned, but Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely is in a similar vein.

... out Holly Black's Modern Faerie Tales, it is a trilogy but I liked the first and the third best. The first one is Tithe .
I enjoyed Tithe-A Modern Faerie Tale , as did my daughter. I always though YA and teen were just different names for the same thing?

... guess, but it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone who owns a copy likes (or will like) the book.
I've now finished Tithe: A Modern Faerie Tale . "Edgy, dark urban fantasy" is how it's described. Not the best fantasy I've read, but not bad. Aimed more at teens than types like me though. ...

I felt a similar way about Tithe ... I picked it up a few years ago really wanting to like it (I had high hopes), but was sorely disappointed in the themes and execution. I couldn't believe the amount of language and sexual content, especially in a YA book from the same author who worked on the ...

I have a few other suggestions in the Fae department:
Tithe by Holly Black (loved the trilogy!)
Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
Those are young adult and for an adult fae story:
Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning
Also Holly Black Tithe , Valiant & Ironside could come under Fae
OK, I'm going to give this a try. We'll see how well it turns out! You can go here for my blog post about my challenge.

I haven't read Tithe but my friend has and she loves it. And Uglies is super-dooper. It is really fascinating.
