I won this new release through a contest on writersdigest.com, but it is definitely worthy of buying for a writer in need of guidance and inspiration. The back blurb captures the humor of the book perfectly: "Toddlers - and drunks - bang around hitting walls, tables, chairs, the floor, and other people, trying to find their legs. Writing fiction is a similar process." Most of the book consists of pep talks, all short blurbs a paragraph or two in length. One of my favorites was on Pep Talk #133 on page 94:

If you believe you were meant to continue writing, then when someone comes up to you and says, "I think you're the worst writer I've ever come across," you should say, "Okay."
If someone says, "You're an idiot if you think you can make it as a writer," then you should say, "Okay."
If someone comes up to you and says, "I think you're the greatest writer ever," you should say, "Thank you."
Continue moving forward.

I found myself nodding a lot as I read, agreeing with his sentiments even if they were rather harsh at times. In Warnings, he mentions the dangers of blogging and computer games. Also, those who write or read fan fiction might bristle at his Pep Talk on page 43-44 where he admonishes those who waste time on pre-created universes when they should be playing with their own original characters and settings.
