A girl(Gillian) in the office collapses. The young executive(Reuben) takes on the responsibility of getting medical care--AND gets involved further than he anticipated, rescuing her little brother(Noel) from a cruel daycare. The plot thickens: a wicked uncle lurks, threatening to put Noel in an orphanage; Reuben's aunt takes Gillian to convalesce; the siblings are caught by the tide, surrounded by waves. Reuben to the rescue! A charming look at the vicissitudes of poverty in the 1930's, and (of course) evil is punished/good prevails. ( )

Reuben Remington came out of the drafting room with his hands full of papers and blueprints, and walked the length of the big outer office toward the superintendent's room with a gay grin on his face, his pleasant lips pukered as with a suppressed whistle.
