This book tells about our rich heritage of food in the Southern Appalachians. It is nice to know that the big chains have not gobbled up all the Mom & Pop restaurants. I can tell that Mr. Sauceman really enjoys getting to know the people involved as well as tasting the food. After reading this guidebook to our local cuisine I look forward to reading his food articles in the Kingsport Times-News as well as possibly visiting the local places that he has warmly profiled with respect and admiration. Thank you Fred Sauceman for making me proud to say I love "real" food and the people who prepare it. I also enjoyed reading about home cooks. ( )
