A very welcome bit of free swag that came with The Observer newspaper in 2008.
What is the difference between invention and innovation? Who are the major players? From the sublime to the ridiculous, inventions affect our lives, it is what defines us as human. Wheaver you are an admirer of Archimedes or just a fan of Heath Robinson, there is bound to be something in this little book to amuse or educate the reader. Packed full of biographies as well as compiled lists on such topics as the best and worst inventions of all time, top ten fictional inventors and even a list of films about crazy inventions from Flubber to Back to the Future.
This small book on such a huge subject manages to keep the reader interested in a subject which could have been very stuffy and makes it such fun to read that you don't even notice your brain absorbing this many facts!
One to keep in the glove compartment of your car, or at the bottom of your desk for those times when you find you have a few minutes to kill. ( )
