This book is good to motivate students about school and learning. ( )

This is another one of my favorite books. This books is about a school in Dinkerville that teaches off things. They teach the students a handful of different tasks and skills that seems as though it will have no significance to them. However, the principal is notified of a test that the students must pass in order to keep their school open. If they don't pass the test, then they will have to go to a school where everyone is the same and nothing is fun. Needless to say, the students are nervous to take the test but when they start the test, they seem to know everything on the test. Soon, the results are in and the students had the best score out of any of the other schools and celebrate Diffendoofer Day for their accomplishments. This book would be a great mentor text to use when teaching a lesson on rhyming and poetry because it is written with rhymes and in stanzas. It would also be great to help teach students that being different is accepted and to accept others who are different. It also teaches students that it is important to believe in yourself and actively listen when learning is occurring. ( )
