I finished and reviewed Empire Falls yesterday, and started One Hundred Years of Solitude. http://www.librarything.com/review/54040809

Finished Empire Falls yesterday, reviewed it, and started One Hundred Years of Solitude. Empire Falls was engrossing and a great start to 2010. I liked the subtle tension that built among the characters and in the story as a whole. I could enjoy the people and their interactions in the ...

I'm reading Empire Falls for my Awards category. (Pullitzer prize) Good, and without LT and 1010, I would probably never read it!.

I'm reading Empire Falls by Richard Russo, my first of his, and enjoying it. >43 How is The Bridge of Sighs? I think I'll want to read more of his. >38 As a SF fan, I can't wait to hear about that one.

I read and reviewed Oom today ( member giveaway by author), and then started on Empire Falls for my 1010 challenge. Oom could be categorized as a YA fantasy, maybe. I was a bit uncertain as to the intended audience. I'd be interested in passing it along to get other opinions if anyone is ...

Berly- Yes, Newman was perfect in Empire Falls! He also was terrific in another Richard Russo adaptation, Nobody's Fool. If you haven't seen it, check it out!

... liked it. Death comes for the Archbishop is good too. My favourite Richard Russo is Straight Man, but I liked Empire Falls too. Are you planning to read Byatt's The Children's Book?

Richard Russ's books Empire Falls and Nobody's Fool might fall into this category. Both deal with men who deal with major changes in their lives.

Just to chime in on the Empire Falls chat... I read it earlier this year and was swept away by it. The story and characters are great, and my heart just broke for both Miles and his brother, as well as for Tick. The whole age thing with the silver fox was funny, and I couldn't help but feel ...

I also loved Empire Falls. #193 coppers - if you haven't read it, move it up and start on it ASAP! Russo's strength is making common everyday people interesting and characters about which you can have sympathy and care deeply about. I had forgotten about the HBO movie and have never seen it. P ...

> usnmm2- I loved Empire Falls too! If you can track down the HBO film version, it's worth it. Of course it pales, compared to the book but Paul Newman is excellent as the father!

Just finished Empire Falls by Richard Russo A great book!! One of the best books I've read in many years. Full of characters good and bad and I cared for everyone of them. I can add nothing to the positive reviews that have already been written by many readers.

I would very much agree with Richard Russo for New England. In addition to Empire Falls, many of his short stories vividly capture the feeling of Maine and New England for me.
