You absolutely must reaed Dorothy Dunnett - I suggest first The House of Niccolo series of 8 books. All very lenghty but hard to put down. Her earlier series The Lymond Chronicles I still haven't read but everyone I've recommended these too has read both and loved them all. She bagan Lymond ...

I'm with Claes in 15th century Milan in Dorothy Dunnett's Niccolo Rising. It does have a complicated plot, but I'm really enjoying the book. Looking forward to book two of the series.

I'm in a split-time kind of thing: 1460s Flanders in Niccolo Rising and 1860s England in Drood.

I'm reading Death was the Other Woman by Linda Richards right now. It's going fairly quickly & is a fun read. I have Niccolo Rising and Death of a Tart waiting for me next.

Just checked out of the library today Niccolo Rising and How to Cook a Tart

I recommend both of the Dorothy Dunnett series, namely the House of Niccolo series and the Lymond Chronicles series. The first is set in the 15th century European merchant world. There are eight novels in the Niccolo series, each as good as the one before, yet each demands about fifty pages ...

Ardashir in The City and the Book : Bruges (Aug 26, 2007, 5:50pm)

... Amazon and Abebooks it seems I finally will receive it soon. I am also considering Dorothy Dunnett's series about Niccolo Rising, which seems to revolve around the city in its golden age. Any other suggestions? It might be enough for a while, I guess...
