I'd like to see Michel Houellebecq and Stephanie Meyer get trapped together in an elevator. That would be an interesting conversation. Still, I'll take French misanthropic nihilists over idiots who write about sparkly vampires and their passive female love interests. Might be worth writing ...

I' ve read Platform . Houellebecq is one of my favorite authors.
How about Euphues: The Anatomy of Wit by John Lyly?
I finished Platform and really feel indifferent to this book. I also finished Water for elephants which was a better read :)
Am now reading Under the skin and I am only a few pages in.

Do any of Salman Rushdie's books give any insight into this topic?
I've also looked into the reviews of Platform by Michel Houellebecq but I'm not sure this one is quite what I'm looking for?
Any comments? Any books I'm overlooking?
About three days ago in my the bargain bin of my favourite coffeeshop/bookshop here in Sydney I found a copy of Plateforme by Michel Houellebecq for $1! I'm already on page 26 and my French is just based of my Spanish.
Haven't read Platform but I can tell you that Atomised is abysmal. Houellebecq writes like a sociologist; he's not a novelist at all. Having said that, there were a couple of points where I laughed out loud, though I can't remember whether the humour was intentional.
