Awful. Really.

This book really is ridiculous, but I think it's supposed to be. It has it's funnier moments. ( )

The first book in this series really amused me, I loved all the alternate versions of things in the Harry Potter universe. It got a bit weird when the entire plot completely changed and was then about something entirely different. The second book was okay, it did seem to be rather scraping the barrel. The last book however was rather good. It reminded me of Terry Pratchett in some ways and seemed to be a book in its own right and less a Harry Potter parody. ( )

Hilarious. That's all I have to say. Very adult in parts, and constantly pushing the limit, but still a brilliant example of absurdism and parody. ( )

Book description
Hogwash is the most famous school in the wizarding world and Barry Trotter is its most famous pupil. It's been that way ever since J.G. Rollins' Barry Trotter and the Philosopher's Scone broke publishing records worldwide.

So important has Barry become to the school's bottom-line that it has been agreed that he can stay at Hogwash for as long as he likes. Barry Trotter is 22.

Groupie-laden and scholarship-free, life has been good for the perpetual student, but now disaster looms. The movie Barry Trotter and the Incredible Attempt to Cash-in has gone into production and the Marketing Dept. at Wagner Bros. is going into overdrive. Hogwash will be submerged under a tide of souvenir-crazed Muddle fans, torn apart and sold on eBay, stone by mossy stone.

The movie must be stopped. Forget Lord Valumart — Barry, Ermine Cringer and Lon Measely must try to defeat the most powerful force of grasping sleazoids the world has ever known: Hollywood.

Not only do the twenty-two-year-olds have to elude packs of rabid fans, outwit Barry's sponging godfather Serious, and vanquish their old foe Lord Valumart, they have to face the most powerful enemy of all: Hollywood!
