... of World War 2 is probably not in the best taste. Equivalent to the re-make of Beverly Hills 90210 during the War on Terror ... still, it's art. Great Art is beyond time and place and the author's own dislike for it. In his later years, Tolstoy rejected his early works like War ...

... Commander's War in Iraq The Gamble: General David Petraeus and the American Military Adventure in Iraq, 2006-2008 The Forever War I have read and Dexter Filkins is right on with his reporting. House to House: An Epic Memoir of War is about the retaking of Fallujah and as ...

Sometimes one book suggests another. Starship Troopers is an excellent read, but comparing it to The Forever War makes both even better, especially if you know a bit about the author.

Many Happy Birthdays Teelgee!!! Finished The Forever War by Dexter Filkins. Well written but hard to read if you know what I mean. I think all the action depicted happened before the surge. Cold comfort. The comparisons to Michael Herr's Dispatches are apt. Started The Bridge ...

#5: Flissp, I have not read Forever Peace. I did not even know there was a sequel to The Forever War. *heading off to library website* As far as my overall favorite picks, I do not know if I can narrow it down to just 1 or 2. I might be able to pick 1 or 2 from each category, though: Nonfic ...

... world and held him there. Can anybody tell me why mysteries have to run into a series? Started Dexter Filkins' The Forever War. Well written, interesting but also disheartening.
