Pahoota challenged me to read The Forever War by Joe Haldeman - a hard sci fi novel. Although I'm a sci fi fan, I avoid hard sci fi, because I'm more interested in the characters, story, and ideas, ... Sometimes one book suggests another. Starship Troopers is an excellent read, but comparing it to The Forever War makes both even better, especially if you know a bit about the author. Many Happy Birthdays Teelgee!!!
Finished The Forever War by Dexter Filkins. Well written but hard to read if you know what I mean. I think all the action depicted happened before the surge. Cold comfort. The comparisons to Michael Herr's Dispatches are apt.
