It wasn't what I expected from Foster. ( )

While I am not typically a fan of futuristic books, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. As a fan of Lori Foster, I figured if anyone could pull it off it would be her.

Michael Manchester, Mallet, is laid up in the hospital after an accident. His fighting career ended, he's desolate and unsure of what to do with his life.

Kayli shows up from a time in the future claiming she can heal Michael's wounds, for a price of course. If he goes back to the future with her and trains the warriors of her colony, she will make him whole again.

Not able to pass up the opportunity to have full use of his legs again, not to mention that he thinks Kayli is a total hottie, Michael agrees - thinking that she has to be joking and he'll wake up at any moment.

Finding himself in an unfamiliar land with technology beyond his wildest dreams, Michael faces the reality that he has indeed travelled to the future. Fighting to change the colony's rules and procedures, Michael ends up falling in love with Kayli.

This book is a remarkable journey through self-growth, learning, and compromise. The future may hold all sorts of wonders, but they still have their issues that need to be resolved. If you enjoy stepping out of reality, you'll love this story! ( )

I was horribly shocked and disappointed to find time travel added to what had been, hitherto, a contemporary romance/romantic suspense series. I do not mind scifi/fantasy but please do not suddenly introduce it into an on-going series with nothing more fantastic about it than all of those gorgeous heroes. I cannot even make myself read the book. ( )

This book was a sharp u-turn from the normally sexy, fun and enjoyable SBC series. For some reason, Foster decides to introduce time travel into the series. I don't enjoy books which decide to mix genres wihtout some sort of heads up to the reader. Even if this book did have some sort of notice that it was moving out of the contemporary arena, it still would have fallen flat. The heroine's world is not well consturcted and the slew of characters introduced don't have time to be developed.

At the back of the book is an excerpt for the next SBC book - here's hoping that this will return to the traditional contemporary world that made this series successful. ( )

I was really disappointed with this book. Where did the time travel come from? Nothing on the jacket hinted to any paranormal angle. When I purchased the book I was very excited at what I thought would be the storyline but was just blind sided. ( )
