When innocent Katherine Huxtable turns up on the London scene, Jasper Finaley, Baron Montford accepts a bet that he can seduce her thoroughly within 2 weeks. Though he could win the bet, he chooses not to and accepts the reputation for being dismissed by Miss Huxtable rather than ruin her reputation. But years later rumours again circulate about the two and a forced marriage results. Lacking the same sparkle as the other Huxtable books, and with rather bland characters. The second story in the Huxtable series focuses on Katheen and Jasper. Jasper is a rogue who wager that he can seduce Kat into bed. Just as he was about to win the wager and just as Kat fell in love with him, her heart was broken!! Jasper decdes to leave London and does so for three years. Upon his return, she is back in his life. He then has another wager with Kat: that he can make her fall in love with him. As the town sees thier courtship, and a scandal is born, ressurecting the old wager. Jaser convices Kat that the solution would be to marry him. And so begins thier journey that will lead them to fall in love with each other. Jasper has such a great personality that makes him one of my favorite characters, next to Stephen Hustable. I enjoyed this story better than the first and look forward to reading the third story. Wanted more action. Tea, dances and a reluctance to marry were not enough for me. The second in Balogh's Huxtable family series finds youngest daughter Katherine the target of a rake. Fun, and funny, with unexpected depths. no reviews | add a review
