Einstein: Hi ... Red Dragon by Thomas Harris, the book before Silence of the Lambs, was really creepy. A twisted serial killer who had a terrible upbringing. Humans are the scariest of all. I just finished re-reading Thomas Harris' Red Dragon, which is always an enjoyable thriller. Currently working on two books: Atonement, which is one of my absolute favorite books, and The Other Side: The True Story of the Boy Who Sees Ghosts by Denise Jones. The Other Side used to be one of ... ...

Books to Read:
Brisingr by Christopher Paolini ... is chock-full of closet cases and meth aficionados.
What cheeses me off is when a one-off novel turns into an industry. Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs were great thrillers. Then it devolved into All-Hannibal, All-the-Time. It's what ruined the "Hitchhiker" series and I'm sure that's ... ... by E. Annie Proulx
Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris (And many of Harris' other books: Manhunter, Hannibal, Red Dragon, Hannibal Rising)

Fanboys are the engines that create useless sequels, empty action movies, and make the ... ... is total crap too.
Then there are a couple of books I tried to read in High School It by Stephen King and Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. Both of those books totally creeped me out and I put them in the trash without finishing either of them. ... I got my husband The Amplified Bible (large print as wubby squints alot when reading ;) ), I also got my daughter Red Dragon by Thomas Harris
edited for and + touchstones ... way through more than once, I have to say that the one I've liked best so far is Obsidian Butterfly because it reads like Red Dragon with vampires and shapeshifters thrown in.
I don't necessarily dislike the sex in the later books, but I do find the stop for a ten+ page sex scene after ... ... Home to your small-town paranoia category, and I think urban gothic is also where I'd put Rosemary's Baby.
I'd try Red Dragon under psychos, December under spooky places, and The Exorcist under ghosts and demons. I'll keep thinking about it. What a great idea! I'm looking forward ... ... in the deconstructions are reviews of how detectives are portrayed (ie, the difference between the abilities of one man in Red Dragon and the entire FBI), doubles in movies (Cassinova and the Gentleman Caller in Kiss the Girls, Detective Somerset and John Doe in Seven), and the influence of ... ... Red Dragon disturbing but still a good book. American Psycho disturbing and still a bad book.
Most disturbing book I ever read Eichmann in Jerusalem by Hannah Arendt. ... #39 Red Dragon by Thomas Harris

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer - The Twilight series was a recommendation from my friend.
Red Dragon by Thomas Harris - I had already read Silence of the Lambs, and I wanted to read the other books in the Hannibal series. Finished Red Dragon, which I REALLY, REALLY enjoyed. Now on to New Moon, the second book in the Twilight series, which just came in on interlibrary loan. Finished Congo and I'm about halfway through Red Dragon, which I'm enjoying immensely. I'm still debating about which book I should read next: Fahrenheit 451 (which I've already read), The Loch by Steve Alten (which I've also read), or The Terminal Man by Michael Crichton (which I ... #135 - Allie64
I'm really looking forward to starting Red Dragon. I've already read Silence of the Lambs, so I decided I should probably read the rest of the series, preferably in order. Although I've heard that Hannibal Rising really stinks. Has anyone here read it? #131 I found Red Dragon somewhat confronting because I have a son with a cleft lip and palate but I've read many books about serial killers so I can't help wondering what made this particular book so much more evil than others in the same vein? ... Congo by Michael Crichton - one of my favorites! After Congo, I plan on reading Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Red Dragon by Thomas Harris, and The Terminal Man by Michael Crichton. About the only time I ever threw an undamaged book away was Thomas Harris' Red Dragon. I thought it was evil and wouldn't inflict it on anyone else. ... Interview with the Vampire, and all the Harry Potter series
Best: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Red Dragon I have to agree with #180... Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. It disturbed me so much that I could not finish it. In fact, I had to physically remove the book from my house. Pretty bad! I read Silence of the Lambs and although it was quite scary, it did not affect me in nearly the same way. Red ... No, that was Hannibal . Clarice isn't in Red Dragon. It's the prequil. I know I've mentioned various books in other threads, such as Red Dragon by Thomas Harris, which I hated so much I threw it into the trash.
But I've just remembered another one, Hollywood by Charles Bukowski--at least, I think that was it--I was supposed to be reviewing the book for Masterp ... red dragon by Thomas Harris ... Chair by Sue Monk Kidd, and a few other weepy miserable wallowing in depression exercises in chick lit. Ugh.
Also, Red Dragon by Thomas Harris--I felt it was filthy and I threw it out so no other person would have to read that crap and feel similarly soiled by it.
The thing that most ... ... sentences, anyone?), the characters are one dimensional, the plots are ridiculous when not predictable--yuk.
Hated Red Dragon by Thomas Harris; actually threw the book away because it seemed evil to me to leave it around for others to read.
Then there's my book club's selection of ... Red Dragon by Thomas Harris was pretty disturbing to me. ... not to put in a spoiler) the most evil character you've ever come across! Worse than Randall Flagg or the psychos in Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs or the psycho nurses in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest and Misery. Still gives me the shivers to think about it.

The book Red Dragon is great for what it is: a dark pychological crime thriller, full of details and creepiness that was not seen a great deal before it's fabrication.

B ... ... to love Hannibal Rising and Hannibal is my favorite of the Lecter series. I thought The Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon read like screenplays, although that, in my opinion, does not make them bad books.
I loved the detail and the richness of Harris' prose. And the complexity of ... ... for me which was a damn shame.
The novel was written in acts as for a screenplay and doesn't read much like his others (Red Dragon being the best). It seems cheaper for this. Half-hearted and now I KNOW he's only doing it for the money. Hannibal was the first indication of this, but now ... Okay, let's see if I can get these touchstones things to work. I'm in the middle of Red Dragon, the first book of the Hannibal Lecter trilogy by Thomas Harris. I'm really unsure of what I think about this one: some passages are almost embarrassing, while others are quite gripping. I'm also ...
