Kimball is not a "far-out-there" type like some associated with the emerging church. He is very theologically conservative, but progressive in method.

This book offers great insight into how churches can reach the emerging generation. This is a must read for any would be pastor to the younger crowd.

Just ignore all the commentary that is given throughout the book. ( )

Not thorough, but helpful in its explorations of some elements in the emerging church. ( )

I really don't like this book. I'm sympathetic to the emerging church, but Kimball displays an attitude like "everyone's got it wrong, we got it right". Plus, he contradicts himself too often. ( )

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0310245648, Paperback)

Churches are noticing less and less emerging generations in their midst. The Emerging Church, winner of the 2004 Christianity Today Book Award, explores the cultural changes impacting churches and offers practical advice of how they can creatively reach emerging generations. Some of the "spiritual" things that were removed from churches are the very things that post-Christian generations are connecting with and find attractive in a church.
