None. I have used this same review for several of Barclay's books: The New Daily Study Bible series takes the reader through each book of the Bible in (generally) sequential segments. Each segment begins with Barclay's own translation, while all Bible quotations are from the New Revised Standard Version. Both are well-suited to modern readers. Barclay explains the richer meanings of certain words and phrases by tracing them back to their original languages. He provides clear and illuminating explanations of the societal, cultural, religious, and historical contexts of not only the events described in the biblical texts but also of their authors. He also explains how the biblical texts apply to modern Christians. Barclay speaks to us from his head and from his heart, he speaks plainly and clearly, and he speaks without sentimentality or emotionalism. ( )no reviews | add a review
