In the process of reading right now. Loving it! ( )

This is not a great work of literature - but it is solidly written, has interesting characters, turns stereotypes into something a bit more 3-D. Its a perfect Sunday afternoon read.

As for this book in the rest of the series - it doesn't stand up. At times, the plot doesn't make sense in terms of motivation. Things aren't explained (like why the zombies wants brains) but for the most part, these don't matter. Its a book that is suppose to be dark, gritty, and totally over the top. ( )

This was probably my least favorite of these so far. It just never really coheres - there are two mysteries that turn out to be completely unrelated except by physical proximity, and while the zombies are tolerably entertaining for the twenty pages they're actually on screen, the other villain is just cringeworthy. It doesn't move the series along at all, doesn't have a particularly satisfying ending, and is just a little more coated in male-gaze ick than I am willing to tolerate. ( )

Felix Gomez is a vampire detective who investigates a recent zombie appearance. Along the way he meets some interesting characters, including an ill teenager who wishes to become a vampire.

This is a well written, humorous, interesting story that takes a walk a bit away from the beaten path. Enjoyable read. I will be looking for other books in the series. ( )

Vampires versus Zombies, round one . . .

Vampire detective Felix Gomez has seen a lot of weird things since becoming one of the undead - nymphomaniacs, aliens, and X-rated bloodsuckers, just to name a few - but now he comes face-to-face with the worst sort of undead.

To stop a ravenous army of zombies, Gomez must team up with a precocious teen with clairvoyant powers whose cooperation comes at a price: she won't help unless Felix makes her a vampire . . . if the zombies don't get her first.
