This is a primer for patriots, from a left wing perspective, though applicable to anyone, who want to effect change. This is a "nuts and bolts" approach on how to organize and agitate for change. As people increasingly are isolated and ignorant of the American tradition, this is a refresher course in what we are all about as a nation. Most of politicians do not respond since our activities as citizens are so timid; politicians do not even promote democracy so this would be a good refresher for them as well if only ordinary citizens were more active.

Fantastic book.

I have read her "Letters to a Young Patriot" and loved it, thought I thought it was a little extreme. I feel the same way about this book. It brings up some troubling trends: increasing limits on the freedom of speech and the increasing difficulty for average citizens to be involved in the government being the two big focuses of her witting.

However, one of the most interesting parts of her book is near the end, where it gives a handbook that is, I believe anyway, extremely helpful for anyone who wants to play a bigger part in American politics and taking back the government form interest groups and corrupt politicians. ( )
