... Tortall. And I have read most, if not all, of the Protector of the Small books, which are not quite as good, IMO. I've read Trickster's Choice which is about Alanna's daughter, but not it's sequel Trickster's Queen yet, although it's sitting on my shelf. I haven't read any of the Beka Cooper ... ... And no worries susy, I had a big trip in October and then I was busy catching up in school. Anyways, here goes:

... were changed. I enjoy Tamora Pierce a lot too. My current favorites are the adventures of Alanna's daughter in the Trickster series. But it enriches those books if you have read The Song of the Lioness and The Immortals quartets before reading them. ... as they came out. But then went to a different job and lost track for a while. Read Terrier last year and just finished Trickster's Choice this evening. All the ones in between I have missed and need to get them on my tbr list right away. I think I may have read some of the Wild Magic ones, ... I am reading Tamora Pierce's Trickster's Choice. I really enjoyed her books when I was a children's/ya librarian in a public library, but got away from them when I went to elementary school. There's a gap between it and the last one the Alanna series, so I need to check those out. I did read T ... ... Lackey. I also like the Oathbound-Oathbreakers duology.
I like almost all of Tamora Pierce's books but chose the Trickster duology because I think it is one of the strongest. Of course, it builds directly on the Alanna series because they are her parents.

those are all i can think of off the top of my head >42 I think that Pierce's Trickster duology is some of her best work in recent years. Get on with it! ... of the Small Quartet, starting with First Test. Again a series of four that is really well done. In December, I read Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen which are about Alanna's daughter. I recommend all of these books very highly. They are all about strong female characters and ... ... book of an unfinished series.

On topic for the thread - I wish people would accept the fact that Aly in Trickster's Choice really, truly is a Mary Sue and stop trying to convince me that I'm wrong by posting on 2-year-old livejournal threads. What the heck, don't you have ... Took some time off yesterday and read Trickster's Choice. I would have taken it out of the library sooner had I realized that it was a story involving a main character from her Tortall series. Hope the next one is still checked in at the library as I want to read it ASAP. ... she did eventually discover her place and made some lasting friendships.

Also a reread, ditto above. However, I should put the Trickster books away for a while - a very long while - because lately ... I'm rereading Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce but it's really irritating me. I find I'm skipping whole sections because I know they'll annoy me - the main character is an awful Mary Sue (I'm sorry, no 16-year-old is a master spy - not to mention that and an amazing fighter, and ... ... are the earlier Alanna books (The Song of the Lioness Quartet, I believe, and her newest two Tortal-based series, Trickster's Choice, Trickster's Queen, and Terrier. The latter series is just starting. Well. It's now July, and I'm rapidly approaching my 75-book mark. I've hit 22.500 and passed it by a little.

I think I will eventually try the first story about Alana to see if maybe it will spark an additional interest. When I picked up Trickster's Choice I didn't realize it was a ... ... matter too much, but I would at least try the first of the Daine books (Wild Magic) before moving on to First Test or Trickster's Choice. ... and read her others, and found her earlier writing not as enjoyable as some of her newer stuff. So far, I think I've liked Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen best of her works. ... is Harry Potter. While Alanna is the first of her first series (did that make sense?), her Circle of Magic series and Trickster's Choice are also just as great and compelling! ... that are relevant to the story, actual bad things happen to her and the people she's supposed to be protecting, etc.
Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen are a pair, not a quartet. I'm not sure if there is a "name" as such - I've seen them called Daughter of the Lioness or Alianne, ... ... even though I'm very unlike either of them. (Daine is a Mary Sue, by the fourth book, at least.)
I haven't read the Trickster's Choice books (I don't even know if that's the name of a book or the quartet...). Are they any good? Are they good enough for someone almost 20 to read if she ... 7. Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce (403)

The pair of books, Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen, is under "Trickster", even though the real series name is "Daughter of the Lioness". And even within the series section with its ... "T"... Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce. Great book and great fantasy read. I enjoyed this book much better than it's sequal Trickster's Queen but that's just me. I finished Many Waters and An Acceptable Time by Madeleine L'Engle and I'm currently halfway through Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce (all rereads). When I finish it, I'll read some new books, either some I started but didn't finish last year (The Historian or Pure Drivel) or ... ... which I also keep track of (since, obviously, I reread a lot :), goal of 25 new reads

It's possibly my favourite Tamora Pierce book. ... and now reading The Door Within by Wayne Thomas Batson which is the first book in the trilogy of the same name, and Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce. Love Tamora Pierce--especially Trickster's Choice for YA fantasy . She has a new one coming out but not one following that character. ... requested it from the library and am waiting for it to come in.
I had never read any Tamora Pierce books but saw Trickster's Choice in the bookstore and thought it looked interesting. That's the book I'm reading now. Up until this morning I didn't realize for sure there was another ... ... them. The Circle of Magic books are kind of good but I didn't get into them as much as Tortall. I have recently read Trickster's Choice and I'm currently halfway through Trickster's Queen. I'm enjoying it but I'm finding it quite silly. I don't find Aly's character very realistic and ... ... disguises herself as a boy. ;)
I haven't yet read Trickster's Queen, although it's on my TBR pile, but I did enjoy Trickster's Choice a lot. The Keladry series was also, IMO, good (better than Daine's. I have never bee able to get into the Circle of Magic books, although I feel like I ... ... favourites. I think most of Tamora Pierce's later books are worse (I didn't even like Daine as much as Alanna). But Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen definitely rival the Alanna ones, at least in my opinion. They're much longer, so they have more depth.
