***I am going to do my best to keep this review spoiler-free beyond the first few chapters, but if you're extremely spoiler-phobic, you may want to skip this one.***

Summary: This final book in the Twilight series brings us several events that readers have been waiting for for thousands of pages, beginning with Bella and Edward's wedding. The ceremony surprisingly goes off without a hitch, but when Bella's life is put in unexpected danger on their honeymoon, they must return home. For danger to Bella is the only thing that can force Jacob and Edward to be allies... the only thing, that is, until the truly unforseen happens, which forces the Cullens and the werewolves into an uneasy pact to protect their families against the greatest threat they've ever faced.

Review: I knew before I started this book that Edward and Bella got married early on (in fact, just looking at the title page, chapter 3 is called "The Big Day"), and I suspected that this meant that she was going to get her way regarding both the sex and the vampiric transformation. What I should have realized, but didn't, is that she had to have some twists up her sleeve to fill the other 700 pages, and I should have guessed which directions at least some of those twists were going to go. But I didn't, and so Meyer got at least one good shock of surprise out of me, at the end of the second section (which is narrated from Jacob's point of view.) Unfortunately, I didn't particularly like the direction in which these new twists took the story; up to this point, this series has been about Bella and Edward and Jacob and their melodramatic issues. I feel like if you're going to write about a love triangle, you have to really commit to dealing with the issues, and Breaking Dawn took the emotional power right out of the characters' hands and provided them the easiest possible way out, without anyone ever having to take emotional responsibility for the repercussions of their actions. Actually, this sense of an "easy way out" permeated most of the book - most of the conflict that's been building throughout the series was resolved in the first half of the book, leaving the characters nothing to do in the second half but prepare for a new conflict... which ultimately fizzles out. I have no problem with happy endings in general, but this one felt too facile, unearned, and ultimately unsatisfactory.

I will admit that this book didn't enrage me nearly as much as its predecessors. I won't go so far as to say that I liked Edward, but his abusive-boyfriend (husband) tendencies weren't much on display, and I finally got at least an inkling of what the squealing hordes of pre-teens see in him. Jacob remains my favorite character, although I was really not fond of the direction his story in particular took. Bella, on the other hand, annoyed me as much as ever: she's so very passive, willing to let other people make decisions for her (a few arguments over whether Jacob or Edward should be "responsible" for her stuck in my craw the wrong way), and extraordinarily, self-effacingly concerned about what Edward wanted, regardless of her own feelings. Plus, Meyer's morality surrounding sex, marriage, gender roles, and now motherhood just squicks me out, especially when I see teens and pre-teens reading these books. Perhaps they should come with warning labels: "CAUTION! Bella and Edward are not role models of appropriate behavior or healthy relationships. Do not try this at home." 3 out of 5 stars.

Recommendation: Once again, Stephenie Meyer leaves me with a host (ha!) of conflicting impressions. I devoured this book in just over a day, but I was ultimately unimpressed.

I almost didn't read this after the terrible (in my opinion) third book. To me the series took a dive after the first book. However, Breaking Dawn started out promising. I liked the idea involving children (I don't want to get into it and give it away to anyone who was living under a rock and didn't read it) and I liked the show down.

Other then that I thought the series was a let down. Twilight is by far my favorite in the series, and apart from minor things picked up on the other books...that's where the excitement ended with me. It was a let down.

And don't get me started on the child and Jacob. Ew. I guess it makes sense in a twisted sort of way, it's okay, but not for me. I can't get over the fact...well, read the book, and I'll just rant to myself. ( )

For about 150 pages, the book gets really weird. But, aside from that, I think this was my favorite book of the series. Meyer's saga could have continued for many books, but she made the ending believable and satisfying. I couldn't wait to find out how things ended, and I'm glad that Bella and Edwards got the ending they deserved. ( )

This book is the best of the Twilight series and I'm very glad that they get a child and Bella gets turned into a vampire. I found it strange that they had a kid when they're both teens though. ( )

I really... hated the ending book. I think Stephanie Meyer could have just added and extra chapter or two to Eclipse, showing how they got married. It was dissapointing, thats all. This was my least favorite in the entire series. Just giving my opinion. ( )

It was a great ending to a great saga. I only wish there were more! ( )

I'm so glad that I can now check the series off my to-do list, but at the same time, I'm sad that the series is over. I really enjoyed finding out the happily ever after. ( )

Congratulation!!!!
I love happy ending very much.
Their baby is ...no I shouldn't say anything any more.

An example of poorly executing sexual scene without writing about actual sex. The battle save the storyline a bit, but the cheesy ending ruins the good ending momentum. ( )

This book is great. I loved it so much.
It's about a human girl named Bella Swan that falls in love with a vampire named Edward Cullen. When I read this book I totally understood how they felt and how they thought.
I still think its kind of weird that Jocab, the werewolf, imprinted with Edward's and Bella's daughter when he was like totally hitting on her in the last three books. They had like totally made out too. But anyways it's still a good book. I think everyone should read this book. ( )

Number four did clear a lot of things up, but it was really, really weird. I still enjoyed it, though. But I have a hard time understanding the fascination with Edward...oh, well. It ends happy and that's what I wanted! ( )

I found this book very hard to get into. I would read it for a little while then put it down and not read it for a few weeks. They I would pick it up again and do the same thing. I really didn't like it when it went from listening from Bella's point of view to listening from Jacob. If this book wasn't part of a series I wouldn't see myself reading it again. ( )

Well, it was inevitable that I wouldn't be able to wait for the paperback - especially since I'd heard that they were holding off releasing it as the hardback was selling so well (greedy bastards!).

So the final part of the Twilight series became my Christmas reading, and it took me longer to read this one than the others - and not because of the length, more as it just wasn't as engaging as the others.

The relationship sparkle between Edward and Bella just didn't seem to be there, and there was very little action until near the end of the book, I'd even go so far as to say that it is overly long. I'll not give the plot away, but needless to say the relationship between the vampires and the werewolves certainly takes a different turn; and of course Bella is under threat again (although this time she's able to defend herself!).

In fact I'm finding it difficult to think what exactly to say about this book except that it finished things off and left an large chance of more sequels. I did enjoy it, and if there are more I'll look forward to them as much as the others, I just hope Meyer can keep the word count down!

Snippet:

I had known even before I read the series that the last book, Breaking Dawn, had caused a whole lot of controversy among the Twilight fans, though I hadn’t really known why. Now that I’ve finished reading them, I decided to go looking to find out why people disliked it; here’s a really good summary of most of the major “problems” that some readers have with Meyer’s ending to the story.

Honestly? I rather liked it.

For starters, Bella and Edward finally get laid. Sure, it was off-screen (off-page?), which was kind of annoying, but at least it finally happened. And hey, there’s a fairly large part of me that was really pleased with the fact that Bella woke up covered in hand-shaped bruises. Come on! That’s hot!

This just might be my favorite book of the Twilight Saga. Loved it. ( )

What would you do if your perfect little world was threatened to end suddenly? In the Twilight Saga's fourth and final book, Bella and Edward finally make it down the aisle and before they know it, their seemingly perfect honeymoon is over. The vampire world is in jeopardy, torn in between what is law and what they feel in their hearts is truly right.
A little slow to get into at first, Stephenie Meyer's fourth book winds up being another page-turner that you just can't seem to put down. ( )

I cannot say enough good about this series of books. They are written in such a way that you feel you are a part of the story, you get personally invested. It is why so many, and such a wide range of those many, love these books.

But I have to say this is my favorite. Of course it is the last in which most everything comes to an end and is either resolved or otherwise come to terms with.

I love the way these books are written. It is as if you're reading someone's private journals that weren't meant for public view...

A classic love story. ( )

By far the best in the series. Bella finally grows up, Jake is less annoying, and the vampire world gets much more interesting. ( )

Breaking Dawn is the culmination to the Twilight Saga and it is, by far, the best of the four books. We finally see some long-anticipated events as well as some highly unexpected developments. I just love who Jacob finally imprints on! In addition, Meyer's experience is evident. There is a marked contrast between the first and last books. Breaking Dawn is better written and the characters filled out far more than they were in Twilight. I was very sad to reach the end of this book. ( )

I read so many people's horrible reviews of this book and I was bracing myself to be severely disappointed and... (drum roll please) I was. No surprise there. The story actually had potential but Meyer deftly botched it all up. About 100 pages in, I told the hubby exactly what was going to happen and I was spot on! Exactly, dead right! Sheesh! I HATE it when that happens. Meyer has no sense of the unexpected, no sense of humanizing her characters, and no idea how to get you mad at a book - in a good way. Everything ended up so neatly tied up at the end -- I mean come on, at least someone important could have died or had a somewhat unhappy ending!! It's like she said, "Oh, I mentioned this minor character earlier, I have to make a perfect ending for him too." I couldn't stand all the happy "I-might-be-dying-so-let's-declare-our-undying-love" vignettes. Blech. This book left me feeling upset. I am glad I read it so I can stop wondering how it all turned out, but I'll never go back to it. EVER. ( )

I was debating 3 or 4 stars for the book. I settled on three because although it was a rather delicious escapist romp the plot was rather ridiculous at times and some parts dragged whilst others weren't very well explained.

Also the addition of so many new characters made it a confusing read at times. What made this even worse was that she, through one of her characters, acknowledges that she has introduced to many characters by putting in an explanatory chart.

However if you want a good hammock/beach read this is certainly something I would recommend. ( )
