Sugar Maple, Vermont is a very special small town. Many of its’ inhabitants have been living there, literally for hundreds of years. Chloe Hobbs owns the towns knitting store and acts as mayor to the outside world, her status as being half-human helps with outside dealings. The town’s first murder in, well, ever, brings a very human police officer, Luke Mackenzie to town. The good people of Sugar Maple are somewhat divided about Chloe’s growing feelings for Luke, but she must continue the Hobbs line or the town’s protective shield will eventually weaken and disappear. Bretton weaves a very nice story, I enjoyed it very much, a fun read for this time of year. ( )

This book deserves five stars for no other reason than my non-fiction only best MALE friend loved it! After his answering my endless questions about the yarns and such being discussed I recommended he read it himself since knitting is one of his favorite things.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book myself! ( )

Chloe Hobbs owns a knit shop in Sugar Maple, Vermont. She is looking for a good man, but is beginning to despair of ever finding the one for her. Luke MacKenzie is a Boston cop who wants to return to small town life. Since this a romance novel, they should be made for each other. But Sugar Maple is not the typical small town, and there are problems.

A light paranormal romance that won't make fantasy readers flee. ( )

This is a lovely romance without the soft porn so many books include. Other than that, the book has it all ; beautiful men and women, magic, fae, vampires, glitter, knitting, a murder and a disfunctional family. ( )

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0425223647, Paperback)

Magic. Knitting. Love. A new series and a delightful departure by the USA Today bestselling author of Just Desserts.

Sugar Maple looks like any Vermont town, but it’s inhabited with warlocks, sprites, vampires, witches—and an ancient secret. And Chloe Hobbs, owner of Sticks & String, a popular knitting shop, has a big secret too. She’s a sorcerer’s daughter in search of Mr. Right—and she’s found him in Luke MacKenzie, a cop investigating Sugar Maple’s very first murder. Bad news is he’s 100% human, which could spell disaster for a normal future with a paranormal woman like her.
