I felt for Grace - her brother's death sucked and she clearly had a lot of guilt. I didn't hate her, but I didn't really love her either - she spent so much time beating herself up about literally everything that I got bored. Plus Shane was an ass. And she ummed and aahed way too much about dumping him. Bernard was alright but not enough to bring this book past 2 stars. ( ) Really sorta liked this one step up from chick-lit about Grace, who can't seem to figure out (although everyone else seems to - this bothers me!) that her good looking boyfriend Shane of 1 year, 9 months and 16 days is just not right for her, but geeky, nerdy Brenda, who is new in her company, is just right. I bought this book from a charity shop for a simple holiday read ( loved it so much I bought it home with me to read again and again). Usual Maeve Binchy/Marianne Keys type book with the family and friends but with characters so real. Grace's brother died saving her from drowning. She met a new man from work. Centred around sister's wedding. Pretty predictable but really enjoyable and believable. This is her first novel and I shall look out for more Not your standard chick lit. Saving Grace is in the league of Marian Keyes, with a more 'thinking' type of book- we cover relationships and grief with a wedding and drunken nights out. It's fun, yet serious at times. The last 70 pages I read in a greedy sitting, the finale was spectacular. Ending was yes, kind of predictable, but you're happy that all the characters got what they deserved. no reviews | add a review
When Grace O'Brien wakes up next to Bernard from IT, she blames the out-of-date bottle of Baileys for making her cheat on her boyfriend. Then she finds she can't get Bernard - geeky dress sense, red hair and all - out of her mind. It gets worse when Grace's best friend falls in love with a blind date - Bernard.
