Teaches children life skills about adapting, friendship, helping each other out and playing no matter rain or shine. ( )

In this book we see that both Elephant and Piggy want to go play outside. They notice it is raining, but make the decision to still go play outside and they enjoy the rain, until the sun come back out!

I think this book would be great for a primary classroom to read! It is full of excitement, happiness, and cute characters. It also helps the kids know that the characters are expressing big emotions when the writing increasingly grows as they get excited.

The book is a very easy read but also a very fun read for a younger age. Elephant and Piggie want to play outside but then it starts raining and they aren't sure what they are going to do about the rain. They end up realizing that the rain is also fun to play in. This book would be a good read for kindergarten or younger. ( )

Elephant and Piggie want to go play outside, but it is raining. Soon they find they enjoy playing in the rain, but then it gets sunny again!
I like how simple the illustrations are and how the font gets bigger when they express big emotions. I'd like to have lots of these books in my class; they are simple yet fun.

Mo Willems has done it again! My personal favorite, a two page spread of an angry piggy. PRICELESS!!! ( )

(Review by Charles Duff below)
This Mo Willems series books is the perfect entry series for young elementary students.  This entry revolves around Gerald the Elephant who is the ‘careful’ one and Piggie the impulsive one.  Piggie is itching to play outside but it starts to rain.  Media Specialist can introduce this to K and 1st graders as their first series.  The simple, straightforward illustrations are great as well.  Here is the link to some Elephant and Piggie games for kids:   http://www.pigeonpresents.com/fun.asp...
