I'm done. While still good, the series isn't the same anymore. ( )

Sad to say, MaryJanice Davidson should've ended the series at book 6. The last one was a complete departure from the light and breezy tone of the previous books, and this one was just *awful*. It really seemed like she was just fulfilling a contractual obligation for another book (which, she might have been). Do yourself a favor and re-read the earlier books or check out her fantastic YA Jennifer Scales series co-written with her husband, Anthony Alongi. ( )

This book was pretty cute! Betsy and Sinclair go to visit the werewolves in Cape Cod due to what happened at the end of the last book (series crossover), and that's fairly scary... I mean, WHO KNOWS what Betsy might say to start a war between vampires and werewolves!!! While they're there, they make an interesting discovery about BabyJon, which endears him to Sinclair (awwww!). Meanwhile, back home, Laura's going crazy-go-nuts and both Tina and Marc are powerless to stop her... Good times! Overall, a very entertaining read—just what I expect from MJ! ( )

I get that Betsy is supposed to be a self-centered drama queen, but this is getting a bit extreme. I need to be able to feel at least a bit of empathy with the main character to get into a story, but she's just so incredibly self-involved. It's difficult to follow most of the story because it resolves so much around her inner selfishness rather than the events that are taking place around her. Also, the sister plot line is getting a bit too much. ( )

Book description
Betsy Taylor has problems that only a vampire queen/suburban wife could possibly understand. Such as taking the body of her werewolf friend Antonia—who died in her service—to Cape Cod, where she's not sure if the Wyndham werewolves will welcome her with fangs or friendship. Meanwhile, her posse back in St. Paul is sending frantic e-mails alerting Betsy to her half-sister's increasingly erratic behavior. Looks like the devil's daughter is coming into her own—and raising hell.
