This book is a great folktale for children to learn about different traditions and cultural beliefs around the world. The author brings the story to life by talking about a real life tradition and a picture of fantasy and creativity. ( ) I believe that the story, The Magic Dreidels, is a good story about a boy who is being tricked by a neighbor. I enjoyed the plot of the book because it was very suspenseful for the reader to see what will happen next to Jacob. Jacob is having issues with each magic dreidel he is given from the gobblin but the reader knows that his neighbor is switching out his magic dreidel for a regular one. I also enjoyed the language because it gives information on the holiday of Hanukkah. An example of the language is the use of the words "dreidel", "Hanukkah", and "menorah". I also enjoyed the illustrations because they were very detailed and illustrated the plot of the story. Without saying that the neighbor took his dreidel, the illustrations showed her evil act. The big idea of the book is that doing good deeds will help in the long run. no reviews | add a review
