This is the story of a man and his grandson. The grandad is a magician and his son desperately wants to learn all of his magician ways. one day, the granddad tells his grandson that all his magic tools are gone. After a long hunt, the magic rabbit admits that he was the thief of all the magicians' tools, but he forgot where he put them. A hunt is provided that the reader can figure out where each tool has been placed.

Genre: This is a good example of Fantasy Fiction because the animals talk, wear clothing, do magic tricks, and put on a magic show.

Age Appropriateness: Intermediate

Characterization: Enigma is a good example of a dynamic character. He is the rabbit who stole all the magic tools because he wanted more credit as the magician, not just the magic rabbit. He changes at the end and apologizes.

Plot: The magic tools are missing! The little badger tries to save the day by investigating the losses. The rabbit confesses.

Yet another beautiful, intricately illustrated Graeme Base book. At the Retirement Home for Elderly Magicians, Bertie loves to watch his retired grandfather perform magic for him. But then Bertie and his grandfather discover that all of the magical props of all the magicians have been stolen! Even the magic bunny rabbit was gone. Bertie visits all the retired magicians to try to solve the mystery, but he returns to his grandfather empty-handed. Luckily, when the thief hears grandpa's tears, he gives himself up! Even so, he can't remember where he hid the magical items, so it is up to observant readers to solve the mystery. What fun! ( )
