King John was not a good man/he HAD his little ways/and sometimes no one spoke to him/for days and days ... ... number of contemporary "dragon as pet" books: Falcon's Egg, The Enormous Egg, "If That Breathes Fire, We're Toast!", My Father's Dragon, M. P. Robertson's The Egg, etc. and as long as we're onto dragons - the quite wonderful my father's dragon. Certainly fine for a 4 yr old kid. The rescue of a beleaguered baby dragon. Great, silly pictures. There are a lot of dragon books, aren't there? I haven't read My Father's Dragon (although I will look it up right now and see if it sounds good), but I have read Jet Smoke and Dragon Fire. ... to see if I had read that one. Way too many dragons in my library!
