Well, I just finished The secret river after all the recommendations here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm off to find The Lieutenant now.

Finished Kate Grenville's The Lieutenant recently. I don't believe the book has yet been published in the US. It's a great read, a fairly straightforward historical fiction about the meeting of two cultures in the earliest days of Australia's colonization. It's not necessarily a powerful read, as ...

Just finished Kate Grenville's The Lieutenant, a very good historical fiction set in the first year of Australia's colonization.

... in early 19th century New England, but by night I sneak off to New South Wales, Australia in the late 18th century with The Lieutenant by Kate Grenville. However, I am also visiting a UK where things are more than they seem in a forthcoming short fiction collection by Robert Shearman.

Seems we are having a Kate Grenville lovefest. I've started The Lieutenant by her.

I'm reading The Lieutenant by Kate Grenville.

I will probably read The Lieutenant by Kate Grenville, a thoughtful gift from another LTer. It's historical fiction set late 18th century New South Wales. Grenville's a favorite author:-)
