I picked up this bit of fluff at the library because it had been recommended on LT. It is the first in a purported series featuring a detective, Bernie, and his partner Chet, who is a dog. This was a first person ... #204 womansheart - I also loved Dog On It so I'm glad you like it too! Chet is too cute. Book 2 comes out in January - Thereby Hangs a Tail. I'm looking forward to it! Almost finished reading Dog On It by Spencer Quinn.
It is so much fun to read that I don't want it to end. I LOVE the voice of Chet, the dog, who is the sidekick/partner of Bernie Little, founder and part owner of the Little Detective Agency.
This is a mystery, detective novel ... ... ... to sample. I think you would enjoy it, too. Wish you were visiting.

The commands barked at me at the end of your terrific review made me do the Sit! Watch me! routine. (If you have trained a dog, you have probably used both of these commands to great effect). Okay, you got my attention, fully.
It got bumped up from TBR to Next Up! in my Coll ... You convinced me. Dog On It goes on the wish list. Hope my library has it. However, I must say, you have your nerve giving Stasia a hard time about adding to your TBR pile. You have caused an explosion on mine! But Murder with Peacocks made it worth granting you absolution. A PI (Bernie) and his dog (Chet) team up to solve crimes. Chet, the dog, is the narrator. Sounds ridiculous, but surprisingly, it works. Chet is a hoot and manages to maintain his doghood, doing doggy things and generally being ... I'm enjoying Dog on It: A Chet and Bernie Mystery by Spencer Quinn and would recommend it to any dog lovers out there who are looking for some fun, light reading.
And after quickly going through the first half of The Girls who Went Away and then having to put it down after I was finding ... ... in this case my family came over many years before the character in the book did).
And now for fun I thought I'd try Dog on It: A Chet and Bernie Mystery by Spencer Quinn. I just read Dog On It by Spencer Quinn and thought it was cute. The story is about a private eye and his faithful sidekick, Chet. Told from the dog's point of view, it made me laugh out loud in certain places since I see my own dog behave the same way Chet does.
This is not great literature ... I finished up Dog on It, which was adorable! I normally don't like detective/police/private eye novels (I work in a police department and get annoyed by the wildly inaccurate details in books like that), but this one was cute. The actual mystery wasn't all that interesting, but if you love dogs, ... cameling...Bangkok Haunts sounds delicious, and Dog On It which you recommended to me in another thread, was delightful!!
And I am NOT a fan of animal sleuth mysteries. I don't like Rita Mae Brown's animal mysteries, and you can imagine how I feel about the "The Cat Who..." series. This ... ... Sword by the same author, which means I have lots of good reading ahead of me, thank goodness.
My husband is reading Dog On It by Spencer Quinn out loud to me, mostly while driving to and from Mendocino from the Bay Area this past week. Great fun for that kind of reading. The book is ... Just finished Dog On It and will start Possession by A.S. Byatt today. Just what I think I need to read for the weekend. ... back from her vacation and slaps him silly before putting things right again by the weekend.
Richard - you have to read Dog On It by Spencer Quinn. You will, now I think, appreciate it because of Ms Stella. It's a cute little book about a private detective (Bernie) and his dog (Chet). The ... My husband gave me Dog On It by Spencer Quinn because he knows I like animals and thought I'd enjoy the book. It's a cute book but not fantastic. It's about a private detective and his dog. It gave me the giggles reading the thoughts of Chet the dog as he helped Bernie (the detective) solve the ... ... titled landowner in Scotland, and the book is trite and the characters all shallow. Not impressed.
Am now reading Dog On It by Spencer Quinn. First time I'm reading a book where the dog I get to read how a dog 'thinks'. A little silly but oddly engaging at the same time. ... finished The Garhole Bar with a deep deep sigh of relief, I am embarking on Flight of Aquavit by Anthony Bidulka and Dog on It by Spencer Quinn. It should be interesting reading 2 mystery novels at the same time by such different authors. My hubby gave me Dog on it and Made for Each Other by William Steig yesterday for my birthday #10 Dog On It by Spencer Quinn
