Just another enjoyable animal fantasy from the master. This one really didn't have much beyond superficial characters and a series of adventures, but it was fun. King-Smith is reliable for giving us nice fun. ( )

A simple, nice enough, coming of age story about a pig who is born understanding human language in a world where all animals---at least those that live on a farm---are able to understand each other. The animals all behave physically as animals. I just wonder if the primary reason for writing the book was that the author had written Babe; allusions to it are made. ( )
