What if a cop finds out that her police dog... is actually a werewolf, who's undercover trying to find out who killed his friend. Throw in the Arthurian vampires, some bad vampires, a fairy king, a rogue werewolf, and an overly cautious werewolf chieftan. Mix well. Stay up reading until you've finished. My only quibble is that the story is so extremely busy. A reader who hasn't read previous books in this series might well get lost. ( )If you like lots of werewolf battles, this is the book for you. As usual, the author is great at character development, and keeps you interested in what is going on. So far, I'm not giving any of her books away, I'm keeping them in my library and recommending them to my friends! Jim London has been raised as a werewolf with full knowledge of his duty to protect mankind should the mage vampires set in place by Merlin go mad from their own power. When his childhood friend is brutally slaughtered he goes on a quest to find the answer. His cover is to infiltrate the Clarkston Police Department as Rambo, drug dog extrodinaire. What he didn't expect was to fall in love with his beautiful handler, the distrustful Officer Faith Weston. Although I found this book a fairly interesting addition to Angela Knight's mageverse series, the characters didn't seem to have the same spark to me as others in the past. I can't really put my finger on why. The story did serve to move ahead her series as a whole and it was nice to see more of a connection beween Arthur and Gwen, I had always thought they didn't really like each other very much. I think if you're a big fan of werewolf romances, this one would be a pretty good choice even if you're not familiar with Knight's other works. Good of the type, the type being romantic suspense with a paranormal twist. It has some extremely explicit sex scenes - you can take that as a recommendation or a warning, according to your personal preferences. [grin] I give it a B, verging on B+. Book Description: "Jim London is outraged over the death of his friend, a fellow cop and werewolf--and wants to get to the bottom of what he thinks was murder. The only way to find out is to go undercover--and, in his wolf form, Jim can do that better than anybody. There's one complication: the new K9 handler, Faith Weston, is sexy enough to bring out the animal in any man." Paranormal romance with werewolves, for those low-brainpower moments.... I thought the beginning was very funny, with Jim going undercover as a German shepherd. Lots of situational comedy moments there. Although it probably wasn't intended to be funny. Then King Arthur and his 12 Knights of the Round Table appeared and I thought "Oh no, good plotline ruined with extreme silliness!" But it actually worked out ok. Very hot sex scenes, although they got a bit repetitive. Entertaining, suspenseful, I would read more by the author. no reviews | add a review
