Beautifully written story with believable and endearing characters who shine off the page. Ron and his elderly mother, the lovable Min, are true characters of the Australian countryside, with a love of place and a sinple but true lifestyle. Their profound effect on the other characters in the story, including, Craig and Liz, and the idiosyncratic Noel and Darren, is truly believable. A beautiful story. no reviews | add a review

Ron McCoy lives an almost marsupial existence with his mother on the wild clifftop of the coastal town of Mangowak. He hunts and gathers while the town sleeps; he is acutely shy, but in the privacy of his imagination, fostered as it is by the oceanscape of his birth, all things are possible. The heart of the story is the life of a single man as he struggles to keep himself anchored in changing times. It's the story of his relationships - with his mother (and father), with his friends and neighbours, but most importantly, with the sea.
A great read - one that will make you laugh and love and think. ( )
