Market Day is a picture book that is told with folk art. This book takes you through the process of what goes into "market day" and the unique things you will find while there. I love all the colors that the author used. It really makes you feel like you are there at the market seeing exactly what the items being sold look like. ( )

The last page of the book was the most interesting for me, and if I were a child reading, I think I would spend the most time on this page. Here are pictures of all the items used in the book, and where the are from. You can go back into the book and find every place they are used, which would be a fun activity for young reader

This book goes through the steps that it takes to have food to take to the market. Also, it tells where the market is and what they do there.

Market Day is a delightful book of rhyme and wonderful folk art pictures. This is a great book to inform children of markets and customs of different cultures.

Teaching: Have the class go on a field trip to a market and point out different things they can see. ( )
