An adorable book on animals and identifying them. Today's storytime was about animals and animal sounds, and this book was an adorable tie-in, perfect for the little ones in it's simplicity and bright, bold illustrations. Covers many of the familiar animals found on the farm, including the farm itself. Each animal is introduced individually, giving a chance for young ones to associate with the animal, and gives the parent time to describe the animal without unnecessary text. ( )

Spots, Feathers, and Curly Tails is a cute, easy read that shows cows, pigs, and chickens and their spots, feathers, or tails. I loved this book because it gave you a little peek at what the animal is going to be before showing you on the next page. This book could be helpful in teaching students how to predict what is coming next in a book by looking at the pictures. ( )

This children's book allows the reader or listener to absorb a question before revealing the answer. The story asks, "What has spots?" Then images of spots appear on the subsequent page. Half of a cow's body is revealed, followed by the rest. I enjoyed this book because it is playful and it allows children to form guesses and be active participants in the storyline. This would be a wonderful resource for a preschool classroom.
