There's nothing particuarly original about this book, but it's fun and sweeps you well into the story. You experiance the events through the eyes of Tiger, a sword dancer of the 7th circle with a sense of humor while he escourts the mysterious nortern sword-carrying woman in a search for her lost brother. ( )Average fantasy story. Not a particular inventive world, or interesting characters. Jennifer Roberson's Sword-dancer series breaks down into three pairs and this is the very first entry in the series. When we first meet Tiger, he's a highly skilled and disciplined mercenary hanging out in a bar, who just caught sight of an extremely beautiful woman with a sword. And the adventures of Tiger and Del begin! Somehow I managed to be a fencer for over ten years before getting around to the Tiger and Del series. Aargh. These books rank right up there with the Cheysuli books. Exceptional writing, great characters, original plot. Definitely on my short list of favourites. no reviews | add a review
