An entire issue in this story arc, influenced by the tales of Parker's responsibilities and travails, is the inner pain of Aunt May. That's a brave thing to do, to devote most of an issue to Parker's guardian. Great stuff. ( )

Spidey has to run around in his pants as he has no costume. He finds a mutant genetic experiment guy at a party, and as a consequence, runs into the female half of the X-Men. Getting blown up in a plane is the downside of this, however.

His aunt is also having problems dealing with things, after she finds him AWOL.

Major angst attends this seventh collection of Marvel's Spider-Man re-telling, as Peter Parker breaks up with Mary Jane over safety issues (hers), Harry Osborn, unknowingly infected with his father's Oz formula, breaks out into full-blown monsterhood, the Black Cat reappears in Spidey's life, the Kingpin suborns Spidey to take care of a fellow villain for him, and Captain Jean DeWolf is revealed to be a traitor. The issue does not disappoint in terms of writing, art, story, dialogue and humor. ( )
