16 down, 84 to go. The final Promethea, or the final chapter of book five, deals a lot with a potted history of magic, and the ideas (both ancient and modern) that thinking about things requires a name for them, thus, at first, language was a magical act.
There's quite a bit more to it and the whole series is ... ... - from cod-superhero (Tom Strong volumes via V for Vendetta 'heroics') to the superb Swamp Thing and From Hell, and Promethea volumes (super-hero / student coming-of-age heroine); Gaiman has written novels, short stories, but my favourite is still The Sandman series.
What sort of ... ... much, as I think he gets enough fanboy press as it is... particular highlights of his, for me, are Watchmen (of course), Promethea - loved that series of graphic novels, though it really was quite "out there", but a lot of fun, and educational (but not as dull as that sounds), I didn't enjoy ...
