Graceling is amazing and very romantic. Tamir Trilogy by Lynn Flewelling is awesome and Sevenwaters Trilogy by Juliet Marillier specially the first three books.

Fire Rose, I enjoy the real world setting of Victorian England and America as a grounding of her works.
I also love Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier trilogy, although I had trouble getting through the third volume. I clicked the touchstone of Daughter of the Forest, and it turns out I read it a couple of years ago, but somehow I never knew that it was part of a series! So I've got to say thank you just for that discovery. I've also put the other books you recommended on my 'to be read' list (which is even ... ... sure to check it out (after I make my way through at least some of Mount St. TBR).
The description reminds me a little of Daughter of the Forest, based on the fairy tale about the seven brothers who were turned into swans. Maybe nothing to do with this, but I really enjoyed that series as ... I noticed someone above (far above) mentioned Isobelle Carmody and Juliet Marillier. I've read Marillier's Daughter of the Forest and the first two books in Carmody's Obernewtyn and Gateway series (the way I have the titles worded in my catalogue makes it look like I'm the only who has ... ... you Juliet Marillier. I believe she is quite famous in some countries. I should advise anyone to start by reading Daughter of the forest and the other books of the Sevenwaters trilogy as well. It's a long historic beautiful tale about women overcoming many obstacles through their lives ... ... it's quite good. I'm about 50 pages in, and it seems like a cross between Ursula K. Le Guin's The Tombs of Atuan and the Sevenwaters Trilogy by Juliet Marillier. The subject is more like Le Guin's book, while the first-person narative style and tone are more like Marillier. I truly enjoy both ... ... by Peter S. Beagle, but not The Last Unicorn! Definitely a classic. Also, since you like fairy tales, you might like Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier. ...

I don't think it was just a mood thing for me- I found the heroine to be very much a Mary Sue, and both she and the hero were very black and white to me, without any real nuances to their personalities.
