One of my favorites this year was Lamb which is the story of Jesus and his childhood boyfriend Biff. What a hoot! I have Fool waiting in the wings. Merry Christmas! ... copy. But I know that I have so many books stacked up to read that I won't be rereading this one anytime soon.
Lamb by Christopher Moore. I got this one when it first came out; kind of bought into the buzz but was never interested enough to pick it up. I read a few pages, ... Wasn't that impressed by Lamb the first couple of chapters were sort of funny. By then you'd got the joke, but still had the rest of the book to read. I just started A Dirty Job. It is a real fast read but I've too many books going at once. I also intend to read Lamb. Anyone remember the beginning of Lamb and what he did with the lizard? OK, that list was way too long! I've deleted it. If anyone wants the alphabetized list, tell me and I'll send it to you.

And I second katylit's suggestion of P.G. Wodehouse I finished Lamb last night. It was funny enough (my chief reason for picking it up), but its fundamental lack of cynicism gave it more substance than I expected. I am glad to have read it.

Wonderful reviews... I have Biff on my wishlist..after seeing your review I am reminded that I have got to read that one ! JolieLouise, to my eye Lamb, so far, is not disrespectful, but the notion that Jesus might have taken his ideas from other wisdom traditions could drive some kinds of religious folk into new realms of anger. I am surprised that the book touches well on so many ideas; it is not a puerile ... Just posting to remind myself I need to write reviews for:
60. Lamb: the Gospel according to Biff by Christopher Moore
61. The Woman Who Gave Birth to Rabbits by Emma Donoghue ... one for Fluke above, i've actually chosen the correct Moore book and it still goes to the wrong one. and then, when i try Lamb, Fluke shows up and i have to choose Lamb from the list, but then it actually goes where it's supposed to. it's whacky.

I loved this! It was so funny, and tbh not quite as weighty in terms of subject matter or length as Lamb, which is a good or bad thing depending on your POV, but I always want more of Christopher Moore's writing. He creates such vivid characters and wacky storylines (trust ... I'm going to have to check out Lamb - it's been mentioned now on a few threads as a good read. I loved Lamb. BACON! LOL. I don't know why I haven't read Bloodsucking Fiends yet . . . maybe because I like sexy vampires more than icky scary or funny vampires.

Hoo, boy. Did I ever get some weird looks for reading this one in public. But you know what? Compared to how much Lamb won me over, it really wasn't all that. Also, all the lead males from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series, especially Acheron, Vane, Kyrian and Zarek. They're called ... ... And where do I start? .. Acheron is number one at the moment, Genjyo Sanzo, Light Yagami, Biff (a.k.a. Levi) from Lamb, Crowley and Aziraphale of Good Omens fame, and actually, Elena from Bitten. *stares at that list* Yikes. I need to get out more.
