The author, a famous French magazine editor, suffered a massive stroke that left him with "locked-in ... I also found The Diving Bell and the Butterfly a beautiful but emotional read. I saw the movie before I read the book and loved that as well.
I haven't read all the Sandman comics and thought I'd read the series through from start to finish, though I'm still waiting for the Vol 1 from my library ... ... more than anything else I've read by him, there were definitely moments that made me squirm during this book.

It was one of those shiny covers, and it had a HUGE sticker on it...enormous thing. I took that off ....and the cover came with it. I couldn't get a refund as the book was a remainder item. I love that book, too. ... I've read The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,(but just realized I never entered it in my library, thanks ellevee!),
